A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer. My girlfriend and I decided that we wanted to try to do something to help her and the others in the area that are battling the big “C”. We put together a Facebook page in the hopes that it would provide family and friends with a space to send their thoughts, prayers, and warm wishes to our friend, Karen. We have also started to put together a benefit dinner on Karen’s behalf. The page has had nearly 500 hits in less than 5 days and it continues to grow!
My hope is that this page will inspire many people, those who know, have lost, or are battling cancer. I hope it also serves and a source of education for younger women to maintain their regular check-ups. It is imperative to get yourself checked regularly and ensure that you are taking care of yourself!
“Like” the page and join the cause. This month is Cervical Awareness Month, so we owe it to ourselves and loved ones to band together and fight as one!
God keeps his promise and he will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, he will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.
We cross our bridges when we come to them, and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.
So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art or love or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”
The way you see yourself has a powerful impact on what you make of yourself. And you are free to see yourself in any way you choose.
What you sincerely think of yourself influences what you do with your life. The way you spend your time, and your actions, your commitments and priorities all flow from your image of yourself.
It really doesn’t matter if the image is realistic or not. Because you have the power to shape your own reality so that it agrees with the image.
What does matter is that your self-image be authentic. When you consistently see yourself as who you really, truly desire to be, that’s who you become.
Your wishes alone will not make anything happen. And yet, when you persistently see yourself as you wish to be, you will guide your own actions to move your life in that very direction.
Choose a positive, meaningful, compelling and authentic vision of the way you would like to be. And then find great joy and fulfillment in really, truly being that way.
